Short Idea Memo - Users manual

About this app
Short Idea Memo is a memo widget application that displays text on your Android home screen. The text can be easily expressed in a combination of symbols, such as bold, checklist, etc., using a text decoration notation called Markdown. It also supports online storage for text backup, synchronization and sharing across multiple devices.
Widget placement
On standard Android, long-pressing on a place on the home screen where no icon is placed will bring up a menu.
From here, tap "Widgets", and from the list of widgets that appears, press and hold the square under "Memo Widget" in "Short Idea Memo", and when you return to the home screen, drop it anywhere you want. Press and hold on the placed widget to change its position and size.
At this step, you will just see an empty rectangle because there is no saved text. To edit the text, please open the "Short Idea Memo" application.
If nothing appears after refreshing the text, it is possible that the widget is limited in operation by Android. Try disabling the app's power saving settings or enabling auto-start.

In Xiaomi's MIUI, apps cannot be launched from widgets unless "Display pop-up windows while running in the background" is allowed from "Permissions" of the app.
Editor
When you launch the app, the editor will be displayed (a guidance message will be shown the first time you launch the app). In entering text in the area in the center of the screen, the basic operation is the same as that of a general editor in Android.
A toolbar is shown at the bottom of the screen. Various buttons are placed on the toolbar, and sliding the toolbar or tapping buttons on both sides will scroll this area.
zReset text
Load the last saved text and reflect it to the editor.
xUndo
Undo one step in the editing history.
yRedo
Redo one step forward in the edit history.
wApply markdown
Subsequent buttons will provide input assistance for all expressions supported by Short Idea Memo. If you select the text in advance, the edits will be applied accordingly. → Markdown Quick Reference
Select a color
When you are tapping a color select button, a window will appear to select a color. The bottom five colors mean the most recently selected colors. Please tap those color you want to use from the list and press the "OK" button.

If there is no color you want in the preset, you can also specify any color in RGB or HSV format by pressing the "Custom" button.
Finish editing
To finish creating a note and reflect it in the widget, tap the check(A) button in the lower right corner, or tap "︙" in the upper right corner and select from the menu that appears.
Export as text
Save the edited text as a file so that it can be used in other applications. Tap "Export as text" from the menu to launch the Android file app, and specify an appropriate destination and file name.

"Export as HTML" saves the Markdown-decorated content as a file that can be viewed in a browser application such as Google Chrome. Please note that the output HTML file cannot be converted back to Markdown format again.
Sync with online storage
Tap [B] icon at the top of the screen to upload the saved text to the online storage specified in the settings. If a file with a more recent date is found by the online storage, it will download the text and reflect it in the edited content.

To access those services, you need to register for an account beforehand. When accessing online storage, a login screen will be displayed in your browser, so please perform the login process there to allow access to the application.

Short Idea Memo supports OneDrive, DropBox, and Box. OneDrive and Box require full access permissions to files. DropBox only accesses the area dedicated to the application.
There are no plans to support Google Drive at this time, as Google's current operating policies may prevent access to online storage in the future.
In order to prevent discrepancies between the file creation date and upload execution date in online storage, the app judges the file date by the file name. Changing the file name may cause unintended synchronization or other problems.

Switching services or accounts may cause you to lose access to your online storage. In this case, please run "Delete storage cache" from a settings page to reset the access information including login.
Settings
Tap the gear(v) icon at the top of the screen to change the settings, including the widget display. → Details of the setting page.
