IME Status

About this software

This is an utility software which displays valid / invalid state of current input method as an icon. It functions on extensive applications. Icons can be fixed not only on the cursor side but also on the desktop or active window.

Require environment

Windows 10 and later installed .NET Framework 4.8.

How to use

Launch the program

Launch "IME Status" from the list of applications in the Start menu. When IME status stops by restoring from sleeping, please reboot this app.

Show the icon

By default, a circle icon is shown near a cursor. Green is "(Input method is)Enabled", red is "Disabled", orange(Please read Show half char status" below) is half charactor.

You can customize the display from "Display setting" on the context menu.

Icon's position

You can change the place of an icon from the "position" of a menu. If it's "Near", an icon will be placed in a location suitable for the form of a cursor. If the value is "Arbitrary position", you can change the position of an icon by dragging it.

When a position is "Top of an active window" or "Top of desktop", when putting a mouse cursor close to an icon or tapping an icon, it will hide for 5 seconds.

In "Focused Item", an icon is displayed at the upper left of the control with the keyboard focus. Because this location is based on accessibility information provided by the target application, it may not function in browsers and games other than Microsoft Edge.

When you press the "Featured" button, the best-looking image is selected from the sample icon images. Nothing happens if you deleted those files already.

Distance to cursor

Adjusts the distance between the cursor and the icon. The larger the value, the further apart the distance.

Icon file

You can select the image of an icon from this list. Please save those images in "icon" folder of the application folder(In the "Display setting" dialog, click "Folder" button next to the icon file list).

There are two ways to register if you want to use original icons.

Place the combined picture.
Save a png image which listed the following nine icons horizontally to the folder.

Stores individual files into the same folder.
Create folder has any name on the "icon" folder and store png files has those name. Please refer a icon folder as a sample.

Images in "as tile" are displayed in the order in which lock keys are checked as an option. In "Individually" the position of the image is fixed. When both images are prepared, "Individually" images take precedence. If there is no images, the state of lock keys will not be displayed.

Show half char status

A status of half charactor is shown too when this checked.

Display lock keys

Status of NumLock, Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, and Kana(or Hangul) Lock are displayed individually.

Display test

A text box for checking how the icon works. It does not affect the setting.

Gaming mode

Changes the detection timing so that it functions even in a unique IME environment such as online game chat. It may not always work with all games due to reasons such as game anti-cheat tools.

Virtual desktop mode

In the virtual desktop implemented from Windows 10, you can move icons between those desktops. If the CPU consumption rate becomes extremely high for system reasons, please disable this function.

Register to startup

Enabling "IME Status" item in "Windows System Settings→Apps→Startup" under the list will cause this program to run automatically from the next time Windows starts up.

Uninstall

If the name of "IME Status" is shown in the "Apps & features" list of the setting, please uninstall from this or delete all the generated files directly if you couldn't find it. And when you can't since a program is running, please reboot OS after canceling start-up.

Localize messages

All the messages shown in the app are included in the text file. If you edit "main_en-us.tsv" file in the locale folder and translate the right of the tab character as "main_(language code*).tsv", it will be shown in that language.

*Based on ISO 639. For example, "fr" indicates French, and "zh-cn" indicates Simplified Chinese.

Difference between Free and Standard version

If you downloaded this app as a free version, some features are not available. If you like this app, please buy it because I will be able to develop better apps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bad response in graphics software.
If you are using it with an application that makes much use of its unique mouse cursor, try enabling the "Game Mode".
Can I show an icon at the side of the text cursor?
I can support that if the target app provides information about the text cursor. But most of the apps are not provided. So, I can not support it at this time.
Where did "IME auto changer" in Ver 2.0 go to?
In order to control the IME, it's necessary to interrupt the system, but it is difficult for the store application (Windows Universal App) which is different from a general program and it is limited to publish as an official store app because for security reasons. Therefore, I abolished it from Ver 3.0.
I sent a bug report to the review site, but there is no response.
I don't check reviews posted on Google Play and Microsoft Store at all because there are many emotional criticisms. Therefore, any requests will be ignored at all when you post a bug report as the review. Please send an email directly to the developer.

Notice

I developed this program carefully but I cannot guarantee perfect stability. That's nearly impossible that this destroys a system. But, please make sure to avoid the emergency situation by regular backup.
